Nia Rice: Hey Hey, how you feeling?

BLXST: Hey what's up? How are you doing? I'm good.

Nia Rice: I'm excited to speak with you. You are the most anticipated, most talked about right now. So of course it's hard to get hands on you. How does that feel?

BLXST: I'm doing good. I'm excited to release new music. That's the first thing on my mind.

Nia Rice: I just saw "Overrated" just hit a million on YouTube, which is fire. I was watching it last night and then this morning, it's at a million. I was like, whoa that happened fast.

BLXST: That's news to me too. I'm glad you said that.

Nia Rice: Haha, So right now, of course, you are the biggest up and coming west coast artist. Well, honestly to me, you're not even up and coming because you've been in the industry within music, you've been brewing, you've been cooking, strategizing and building and I’ve been watching your vlog, which I wanna ask you about. Also I want to talk about you working hard in the studio, producing and writing. What's that been like now? I guess since you've already put the music out.

BLXST: So lately I've just been trying to live life. I mean, of course, I'm constantly creating, but before I put together another body of work, I just want to get my experience. I felt like you create that quality wisely. We have something to talk about. So right now I'm just taking everything in from the original project and just using that as motivation for my next body of work.

Nia Rice: I love that approach. I was doing an interview with Rucci and I know you two collabed and he was talking about intentional relationships and having that approach. Is that your approach with collabs as well?

BLXST: Yeah, absolutely. I felt like first and foremost, I got to know you as an artist. And then even beyond that as a man or woman that stands on integrity, that's first and foremost before the music can come out organic.

Nia Rice: Is that what we can expect from this Deluxe? What are you accomplishing with this Deluxe EP release that you didn't accomplish with the last release?

BLXST: I was just saying just a more in-depth understanding of who BLXST is and also on this one, I'm more so rapping and showcasing the different side of who I think fans would appreciate.

Nia Rice: So I heard you’re doing some collabs on this Deluxe. Who are you collabing with? Who can we hear out?

BLXST: So I got a couple of them. I got one with Dino. I got a joint with Ty Dolla sign and Tyga on there called Chosen. And then of course I put out a single with Dom Kennedy.

Nia Rice: I love Dom. I got to work with Dom when he and hit boy released in his studio. And in the studio, he's just so on point. He's there mixing and mastering, he's there rapping, he's there crafting the beat up like he's there from start to finish.

BLXST: Yeah. When I pulled up on him to get his verse, he recorded right then and there

Nia Rice: And he probably mix and mastered it too haha

BLXST: Yeah, actually I mixed and mastered that song.

Nia Rice: Crazy! Speaking of rapping, I was listening to Headshots and you was going off. Where's that Blxst at, I'm glad that you’re bringing it back. Why did you want to do that for this Deluxe?

BLXST: I just wanted to bring that back. A lot of people know me for the melody and stuff. So, when I did Headshot, it wasn't a lot of people checking for me, so I circled back and let them know that I'm capable of still doing that.

Nia Rice: Okay, cool. And so I was watching your vlog, the Eagle Eye Vlog. Did you record any of the sessions for the Deluxe?

BLXST: We probably did. I'm not sure. I'm sure he got some kind of concept that will come out eventually.

Nia Rice: How do you like the Eagle Eye Vlog? Having your fans see that side of you and what's their interpretation of it?

BLXST: For me, I think it's dope because you know, I'm not the biggest social artist, but I feel like it gives the supporters the opportunity to see who BLXST is behind the music or even while creating the music.

Nia Rice: Sweet. So what can we expect from you for 2021?

BLXST: 2021? I want to of course double back into rapping and then I want to finish my full body of work as well. Debut album.

Nia Rice: Cool. Are you going to venture out? I know I heard you say you wanted to do TV/film?

BLXST: Nothing planned so far. If something comes my way, then I'm open to it - for sure. But right now it's like, we're still making my first impression on music. So I want to give that my full attention.

Nia Rice: Respect! Thank you so much for your time.

BLXST: I appreciate your platform

Nia Rice: Thank you so much. Anything you want to leave us with?

BLXST: Not at all. Thank you. I'm grateful.
